Northern Sydney Cataract is a modern boutique ophthalmic practice on the Lower North Shore. Our Ophthalmologists are well-respected, ethical and caring leaders in the field. We specialise in a broad range of subspecialties: cataract surgery, surgical and medical retina, oculoplastic surgery, glaucoma and neuro-ophthalmology. We are independently owned and operated. We are seeking a caring orthoptist to join our team. This is a great opportunity for a new graduate or an experienced orthoptist who is looking to join a great team in 2024. We currently have 3 full time orthoptists. You will be providing support for 6 consulting Ophthalmic Surgeons.

Essential criteria:

You must be a team player with excellent communication skills and possess the ability to be proactive and to work autonomously in a busy environment. You must have strong attention to detail and excellent time management skills. Strong interpersonal skills and a high level of professionalism are key in being successful in this role.

The position involves vision assessment, history taking and the following tests:
• Humphrey visual field
• Heidelberg OCT
• Optos ultra-widefield imaging
• IOL Master 700
• Corneal specular microscopy
• Pentacam corneal topography

The role involves assisting with intravitreal injections and minor procedures. Apart from clinical duties, the successful applicant should be comfortable with administrative duties including working at the reception desk, patient bookings, organising theatre lists, and medical correspondence dispatch. We have a full-time and part-time position available.

The hours and days are flexible (Monday to Friday) and the successful candidate will be able fit in with the other orthoptic staff to fill the required clinic hours.

We are a well established ophthalmology surgical specialist practice located at Northbridge, on the Lower North Shore, seeking a FULL TIME / PART TIME  / CASUAL Medical Receptionists to join our team. 

We pride ourselves on providing our patients with the highest possible standard of care. Remuneration is negotiable and will be based on experience. We are able to offer an immediate start.

About the role:
Customer service is very important within the practice. You will be the primary contact with the patient, making the first impressions either in person or over the phone. We build up relationships with our patients and the customer service provided by receptionists has a great impact on the practice’s reputation and our patient’s journey. The front desk team plays very important role in the quality of the service we provide. 

Some of the duties include:
• Managing phone calls and emails
• Meet and greet patients, patient billing, general admin tasks
• Triaging patients appointment bookings, confirming appointments for the clinic and surgery
• Daily dispatching of medical correspondence
• Management of patient recalls and incoming referrals for new patients
• Provide administrative support to the 6 Ophthalmologist in the practice
• Liaising with specialists, hospitals, admin and clinical team
• Surgical bookings, scanning and filling of clinical notes and results
